Masuichi-Ichimura Sake Brewery

In the area of Yukari Katsushika Hokusai, Obuse has a sake brewery that was establish during the middle of the Edo period. The brewery is characterized by Japanese-style counter tops called tappatsudai (tappadai) where sake is sold directly on the spot.Tesakazuki or “teppa” is word used in the local dialect that refers to units of weight used for selling items. It seems that it the sake is named after the atelier of Yukari Katsushika Hokusai as a representative sake of the Daiginjo Junmai rice liquor shop.Daiginjo genuine rice sake features a fruity and ornate ginjo incense and is smooth when drinking.Next, there is Daiginjo Junmai rice wine called “Konoyama.” This is also a sake named after Konoyama who invited the famous Ukiyoe painter, Katsushika Hokusai, to Obuse at the end of the Edo period.

One measure Ichimura brewing ground has been got close to in abbreviated designation “masuichi” from the Edo era. It is pure Chinese sake square one I apply a cable address to express this “masuichi” to English, and to have named. The square one had the meaning of “the origin, the drawing” and put a heart to think of the origin of the sake brewing. I carried through the traditional manufacturing method rigidly and strongly finished it to solid dry liquor.
