Ganshoin

*Gannshoinn Temple On the ceiling of the main hall is “Happo-Nirami-Hoo Zu”; a picture of phoenix that looks at eight directions at the same time. The phoenix spreads its wings all over the ceiling of 21-tatami size. It is the work of Hokusai Katushika at his very last ages.
You can see various interesting things at Gannshoinnn Temple such as the above ceiling picture, a large burial chamber of the Great Masanori Fukushima Archduke, a pond of Flog-battle, a stone tablet of Kobayashi-Issa’s haiku, etc.
History of Gannshoinn Temple: Ogino Bingonokami Jorinn constructed a castle with double protecting walls at around Karita and called it “Gannsho”. Opening was Bunnmyo, 4 (1472), and the first head priest was Futakugennkei-zennshi.
The principal object of worship is Sakyamuni Buddha with a precious crown on the head. The statue was made at the beginning of Edo Period (Keicho or little later age).
